Happy Birthday Grampa!

My gift to you is that we aren't at your house doing this to your kitchen:(You should have seen all the black finger prints we left EVERYWHERE after playing with newsprint for about an hour.)

Ye Old Buster Days Weekend

A long long time ago, in a land that is bery far away, a little boy named Ben had a really fab weekend at his Gramma and Grampa's house...

He carried a token of his love to his most devoted admirer. (Mommy.)

He rode a mighty steed.

He gathered together with other citizens of the land to cheer the parading heroes.

He hoarded great bounty and many MANY priceless treasures.

(Can't talk eating.)

He feasted on cake to celebrate the day of his birth with his most loyal subjects.

He won the love of the fair lady Chloe.

He journeyed through strange and exotic places. Many... MANY times. And then he did it again.

And then he just chilled out with the king.

For the Mamas

Hey Gramma and Grampa, remember when I used to call you both Mama? That was almost as long ago as my last post!

Since you are missing me so much, Mommy thought she would remind you that the last time I saw you was not that long ago...

Here I am learning to cut with scissors for the first time. Grampas are good for stuff like that... Teaching you things your mommy would rather you didn't know. She's expecting me to give Sammy a haircut any day now. (Check out my fingers here.)Cutting stuff requires lots of skill and intense concentration. I've got the concentration part down. Down and out.
After I did some cutting we moved on to even wilder and rougher games. That Polly Pocket toy was good times. I wonder if I will get any Polly Pocket for Christmas?
Even though Mommy had already got me a Kit bar, Grampa's soft heart made him putty in my hands and he took me to pick out some more candy from the machines down the hall. I love that guy. He's the best Grampa ever!
I would have stayed all night, but Grampa got tired after all that playing so I came with him to his bed to say good night. His bed is cool, he can make it into a ramp for our cars. We had a good time playing there before I had to give him a hug goodbye.
After we left for the rest of that evening I kept saying "I love that Grampa beary much," and Mommy would say, "I know buddy, I love him too."

Grampa's Here!

I love it when Gramma brings Grampa here to play with me. We hang around and do lots of cool stuff together.

We go to the store together...(It's really easy to sucker Grampa and Gramma into buying me stuff Mommy won't get me.)

We watch TV together...(Grampa's lap is the best place for watching Lightening McQueen.)

We do guy stuff in the backyard...
(Hey! Can't you see there is construction stuff happening here? Stand back!)

He shows me all kinds of cool things...(Like this awesome dragonfly Grampa put on his cane just so I could look at it!)

Yup. My grampa is a cool guy "achally". I wish Gramma and Mommy would make play dates for us more often. He is my best friend.

At the Dugout

It was pretty hot the other day so Gramma and Grampa and me got in Grampa's big blue truck and drove to the dugout.

I wore my boots so I wouldn't get too wet.
Too bad my boots don't go up a little higher because I fell in the water and it was cold. "Oh no! Oh no! I fell in the water! I'm all wet now! My shirt is all wet! Oh! I'm cold!"

Maybe next time I'll wear a raincoat.

Middle II: The Wrath of John

Bentron's log. Stardate six-twenty point seven. Starship Benterprise on training mission to the Forestry Farm. Section Fourteen, coordinates 52 degrees 07 minutes latitude, 106 degrees 38 minutes longitude. Approaching fishing pond, all systems normal and functioning...

This post is mostly about Grampa and me. He's been wanting to take me fishing for a while now, and we finally got to go. First, we had a picnic and played at the park. Then Noah "helped" me carry my new fishing rod over to the fishing pond...

To the last, I will grapple with thee.
Grampa set up my fishing rod for me and after a while I started to get the hang of it. Noah had a few turns too, but lucky for me he had to go home for a nap, so I didn't have to share with him after that.
Good thing 'cause I sure liked fishing. I had some troubles because I wanted to be able to cast like Grampa does and fish "very nice", but I'm good at reeling, and I really liked it when Grampa put a big fat worm on a hook for me.
A lot.
After a while we got tired of fishing in the hot sun and we went over to that Kinsmen park place together so I could ride the train again... And again.
And, after a brief interlude on the merry-go-round...
I rode that train again. So much for a little training cruise...

So we didn't catch any fish that day... But Grampa says catching a fish is my first, best destiny; anything else is a waste of material and that a no-catch situation is a possibility every fisherman may face so I will persevere... And someday Grampa and me will have our revenge on those fish.

Gone Fishing

One day, when Grampa was still in the hopsdido, I came to get him and took him fishing. I picked out a good fishing stick for him and we caught fishies, and otapus, and whales.
It was fun, fishing with Grampa.

For Gramma

No matter where I'm going,
No matter what I do,
I'd much rather be doing,
And going there,
With you.

Happy Birthday Gramma! I love you!

Happy Birthday Graaandpa!

You and me
Make quite a pair.
We have matching
Heads and hair.

We like the same things
Tractors and trains.
We both like crazy
Loud yelling games.

I like your laugh
I like your smile.
I'll like you even
When you are senile.
Happy Birthday to the world's funnest Grandpa! I love you!
